Beginner Basics Of Bronzer..alliteration. Yes.
hi uh welcome back if you have been watching this series then this is the next step we're gonna be talking about the absolute basics of bronzer uh why we bronze our face basically like what the difference between bronzer and contour is if there is one uh and if you haven't seen my previous videos which would be primer foundation and also concealer they're around here somewhere uh and i'll probably pop the oh i always forget which side it is here uh the previous video anyway which would just be it's just helpful uh to watch that first um okay so just to give you a little bit of a background my face currently i have foundation concealer i did highlighting and pinpoint concealing um so i used a little bit of my highlighter to bring a little bit more attention to the high points of my face including like the tops of my cheekbones the center of my forehead a little bit on my chin so one of the reasons that i'm bringing that up is because the reason that we go in with a bronzer and a contour after applying something like foundation is because when you apply your foundation you're applying one color to the skin and i explained in my foundation video that your foundation isn't supposed to be just like an opaque color because your skin isn't opaque if you look at my neck you can see that there's like different colors i have veins and like all the stuff happening underneath here you have a bunch of different colors going on in your face it's another reason that people highlight using concealer is to just kind of like add a little bit more shape and dimension to the face so one of the reasons that we go in with a bronzer is to kind of like warm up the skin you know you just like i'm very very fair so like i don't necessarily need bronzer but by going in with a foundation and just kind of like creating this one layer on the skin it can tend to make you look a little bit more pale because you're removing some of like natural warmth from getting you know being in the sun a little bit or whatever quickly the difference between a contour and a bronzer is a bronzer is typically going to mimic the way you would look if you had like a little bit of a tan like have you been sun out in the sun a little bit so kind of like the basic areas that you would apply a bronzer are the high points of the face not where you can uh highlight with concealer so like kind of around the forehead a little bit around the cheeks uh just to kind of like add a tiny bit more shape to the face but also add some more warmth it just gives like the face a little bit more life contour is cooler toned it is meant to look like the shadows on your face and you're using a contour to manipulate the shape of your face i'm going to do a separate video on contour and get more in depth about that but i just wanted to explain a quick difference so when it comes to a bronzer formula there are a lot of different ones out there um there i mean there is everything from like satin matte shimmery you know like a glowy kind of finish you want to keep in mind that like if you have texture in any places like for instance i tend to get breakouts like around my temples i'm going on a little bit of a skincare journey right now so that is something that i want to avoid i want to use something that's matte that's not going to bring attention to that texture and bumps the cat is dying to get inside so i'm going to let her in hold on come in come in goofball so i personally prefer something that's going to be really really soft because face powders things like contour bronzer blush tshouldn't be super pigmented because you want them to kind of like melt into your skin it's not like an eyeshadow like you shouldn't swatch a blush and be like oh it's not pigmented because it shouldn't be so heavy on the skin as far as picking the color knowing your skin tone is really important typically a lot of bronzers tend to run a little bit more red or orange and i have a very hard time finding bronzer like there just aren't that many out there that are perfect for my skin tone if you didn't know and i'm sure those of you who do are sick of hearing about it but i am very fair and i have an olive undertone so um and i tend to be like a little bit more warm so i prefer going for something that's like a little bit more warm i would take orange over red any day red looks crazy on me it just clashes against like the green in my skin i tend to go for things that are a little bit more golden i guess now i personally love using as a bronzer which might seem strange the bare minerals matte foundation in a golden beige because i came across it and it's just the perfect color it's just a little bit darker than my skin tone it adds like a really beautiful amount of warmth but i do like to contour and if i use a bronzer that's too dark or too red it can clash with my contour as well so this does exactly what i want it's loose i like to use a fluffy brush with it i'm going to show you how i do that but i think i heard jaclyn hill say this like a really long time ago that she likes to use foundation powders as bronzers now the ones that she was using i believe were from mac which are very full coverage uh so i wouldn't recommend them but if you want to go for something that's like loose um or like a baked bronzer or something i don't know it just those are the ones that i prefer so obviously if you have more red in your skin a more red bronzer is probably going to look a little bit better on you if you are olive then i will link my favorite bronzers down below um but obviously like i'm very quiet so i don't necessarily know the ones that are best for like medium and deep skin um so one of my favorite brushes i don't know how people feel about this you guys like i don't know what the status of morphe is as far as like drama and [ __ ] all i know is that tsent me this brush forever ago and it is my favorite bronzing brush it's the morphe m510 which might look crazy because i'm pretty sure it's supposed to be like a highlighting brush but uh one thing that i have noticed a lot is um i'll often see people go in with like huge brushes uh for instance i don't even have any huge brushes around here because i don't really use them but i don't know just something big like a big bronzer brush and i see these people just kind of like slap it on which is totally fine if you just are you know trying to add a little bit of warmth to the face but if you feel like it ends up looking really muddy or you've done all of this like foundation and highlighting and uh placing a bronzer down just ends up looking like you're losing that definition i highly recommend using something that's going to be smaller that's going to give you a little bit more precision and also something that's going to have longer bristles like you can see that this kind of like fans out it's not tightly packed it's nice and light and fluffy so i love this brush so i'm going to do is i usually have like quite
