Try This Instead: Better Makeup Alternatives
guys welcome back to my channel this is my channel uh I'm Alex if you didn't know um today I wanted to talk about I want to talk about blush okay this is your reminder to do your makeup for your face shape sometimes we forget okay you get into the swing of things you get into a routine you kind of forget you're just on autopilot and all of a sudden you're doing your makeup for someone else's face shape not your own I don't know maybe you get influenced you're watching people on YouTube suddenly your blush is in the center of your face when it should really be up here uh so that's what we're going to talk about today first if you do end up liking this video please give it a thumbs up and subscribe and leave a comment and give it a like and do all the things um we're gonna get right into it so I have my base makeup on I'm only going to be applying my blush now a few years ago I uploaded a video about how the placement of blush totally changes the shape of your face in that video I talk about the difference between placing blush brush placing blush in the center of the cheek or right on the apple of the cheek versus up higher on the cheekbone the conclusion that I came to based on my face shape which if I turn gets quite flat in this area and the height of my cheek is actually up here on my cheekbone is that blush placed up higher on the cheekbone for my particular face shape from my bone structure looks best recently I've been forgetting that I've been going through the motions and I've been bringing my blush down onto this area of my cheeks and bro let me just tell you does it age me more more than more than necessary okay so now one of the reasons that people like to place their blush right in the center of the cheek like right here is because it creates a really cute youthful effect on some people on some people is the key phrase few words there on someone who has my kind of anatomy if you have higher cheekbones if you don't have the volume here or if you just feel like placing your blush in the center of your cheeks kind of drags your face down which totally that's what happens to me it just ages me it just pulls my whole face down um this is something that you should try I'm gonna start off with cream blush I'm going to be using the nudies sorry what yeah Nudy's matte I never know what the name of these things are there's so many names on these things this is Rosie Posey from nude sticks it's a green blush uh I am going to pick that up with a secret brush I apologize I talked about this way too soon it's going to be a minute you're gonna yell at me your blush brush I will link some of my favorite blush brushes down below I'm going to pick up Rosie Posey using this brush now I want to keep in mind that I want to maintain the pigment up higher on my cheekbone so I'm going to start here literally on the highest point of my cheekbone I'm going to use a very light hand to start blending that out but I want to focus the pigment right on the top of the cheekbone to begin with notice that I'm holding my brush back quite far like right at the end of the brush handle the further up you hold it the harsher that application is going to be so if you feel like blending is a problem or if it's just looking like very patchy try holding it very very far back starting here then I'm going to slowly bring it down just a little bit I don't want to bring it down any further than that though like right there right where like that nice kind of like I was going to say diamond shape is that really a diamond shape it's not really is it point that ninth point of my cheekbone is right there so up to the temple to that diamond shape Point whatever we're calling it no lower than that I've been recently having a tendency to bring it down here and all that does is drag the eye downward and it just ends up making it look like my whole face is just like sagging it has not been flattering at all now on this side I'm going to show you the opposite so I'm going to start right here the apple of the cheek I'm not going to bring it up high I'm going to focus it right where your cheek kind of like circles up this is going to be our comparison side can you see how immediately it draws all the attention to the smile line do you see that when I'm looking at that side of my face all I see is this shape right here on this side I see this beautiful glow that is lifting lifting that cheekbone up over here drag I see this that's all I see is this like triangle shape pointing down now this side can be interpreted as like very high fashion up high on the cheekbone it could be like very high fashion very like kind of structured model whatever but we want to make it a little bit cute that's part of the thing now a lot of people place their cheat their blush right here on the cheek because tthink it makes it look cute it's youthful it's cute but if it doesn't work for your face shape you want to avoid that so instead what I'm going to do I'm going to use that same brush I'm just going to wipe it off a little bit I'm actually going to use a slightly lighter blush oh is it like varying down here I'm gonna use this lighter blush this is dandelion from benefit super pretty I just recently picked this up um I'm gonna use that same brush just wiping it off a little bit now to make it cute what I'm going to do is start pressing that exactly where we placed the cream and bring it in it's this part of my eye right to the outer corner of my lower lash line essentially but still keeping it up high so not bringing it down at all just building that up literally on the outer corner of my under eye can you see how bringing that blush right right underneath my eye to that lower lash line just makes my fit the side of my face look like it's smiling do you see that it kind of is like creating this effect that my cheekbone is like Contracting right there and it makes my face on like literally makes like this whole area of my face look like it's smiling like it's lifted up and it's like that can you see that difference whereas on this side all we got is this going on that's all we got not cute okay just does simply does not work for my face shape all right guys that's it for this video I just wanted to show you the difference I wanted to give you an option if you have been seeing people creating this like really cute look kind of like anime type style um lots of like I guess like e-girl makeup or whatever it's very focused here and then up over the nose and it just like does not work for me I love the way it looks on some people I think it's so cute but when I try to do it it just makes me look old it looks like everything is being pulled down so I started experimenting recently with this placing it up high but then bringing it just under the outer part of the eye and it just looks so pretty so cute it's a way of taking something that is look maybe a little bit more sophisticated in high fashion and making it a little bit more pla
