Skincare Mistakes I Wish I Never Made | Learn from My Experience

hi uh wanted to do like a chill video where like I'm literally still wearing my pajamas um where I talk about the skincare mistakes that I've made that I wish I wish so badly that I never made um a lot of you especially if you're subscribed to my channel you probably know I've been on a skincare journey and any of you who have any kind of a skin care like concern which like who doesn't you know what I'm talking about it's really really difficult uh so number one would probably just be growing up in the early 2000s this [ __ ] right here first of all tchanged the packaging a little bit I bought this so that we could tell this to her face what she did to us okay bruh it also smells a little bit different than I remember the Saint Ives bro so abrasive can you believe I spent money on this I'm gonna use this as a foot scrub because that is what it should be for I need to wipe this off like why did I do that I just wanted to show you I just wanted to show you this much I wanted to feel the grit again and be justified in my hate I used to use that as a daily cleanser a daily cleanser because we didn't know we didn't know all right the resources were not available to us then the over exfoliating was crazy the over washing as well I think uh not recognizing that like if your skin is oily you need to be rehydrating it you do not need to be like washing it constantly stripping it I was not thankfully I mean I think I use them occasionally the like a astringent like the pads that were essentially just like rubbing alcohol it was horrendous but I had friends who used them and twas just making things so much worse like we were so misguided back then oh memories it's a matcha to lift my spirits really quick I'm wearing glasses because I have a Lasik consultation tomorrow and I can't wear contacts before so the first one is definitely just like not knowing not having any idea really about skin care like the realities of how to actually care for your skin number two kind of falls in the same vein and it is never wearing sunscreen never wearing sunscreen I did not sunscreen was a you're going to the beach when you go to the beach brought the truck kind of loud you're gonna be spending time at the beach you put sunscreen on that's that was it and you put it on once you didn't reapply sunscreen what wearing it daily wearing it like every day as a part of my everyday skincare routine that did not exist in fact very embarrassing uh and I'm sure a lot of you are in this Camp especially if you're in like I'm turning 32 you probably just started wearing sunscreen regularly in the last like few years I feel like if you if you were before that shouts out because I just think that a lot of people didn't know the realities of sunscreen number three is definitely thinking that dermatologists are just for like people with severe acne or like checking out cancerous moles or something that is always what I thought a dermatologist was for I did not realize that a regular person who like is just experiencing like their skin in general could go to the dermatologist and like have a regular consultation I had no idea that that was an option it's obviously a lot harder if you are someone who doesn't have insurance which I was for the majority of my life so once I did have insurance I was like oh I can go to the dermatologist like that's covered what and then I jumped on that opportunity and it changed my life if you followed any of these videos that I've made then you know that the second I went in and I got prescribed actual products from a dermatologist who knows what they're doing it just like I saw massive improvements in my skin wait what number are we on [ __ ] I don't remember I think we're on number four which is trying to just figure it out all on your own that that is truly impossible I can't tell you how many times I like read articles or I watched YouTube videos or I just tried you know certain things you can kind of like convince yourself there's like a placebo effect you can kind of convince yourself that like something is working when it actually isn't and I think it's because you're desperate to find a solution to whatever your problem is so I remember finding out that like hydration is really important right I was using so many super hydrating really really heavy products because I thought that the reason I was breaking out was because my skin was dry my skin is congestion prone I am acne prone so using those heavy moisturizing products and not exfoliating regularly did the complete just it it created so much texture I had blackheads I had obviously like Whitehead breakouts just everywhere all over the place and I couldn't figure out why that was happening I was like I'm hydrating what the [ __ ] so I think no matter how hard you try no matter how much research you do on your own you really need an expert to tell you exactly like what your skin type is or what might work for you because it can be really really easy when you're doing your own research online to just get like conflicting views or to misinterpret things yourself so I really do think going to a dermatologist is probably one of the most important things number five is doing the most this is something that I still struggle with okay if the in gr if the directions on a package say to use one to three drops don't use 25 okay please don't use 25. if tsay to use a pea-sized amount don't use a silver dollar do people know what silver dollars are anymore I don't actually know do we actually even like use coins anymore it's definitely important to remember that you need to trust the process so if you do go to a dermatologist and ttell you use this like once every three nights use this only in the morning like don't reapply using more of something is not going to make it more effective in fact a lot of the time it can end up making things a lot worse like I said I'm still learning this okay I recently had an experience where after having been on prescription products for a while I went traveling I didn't realize that my prescription uh my prescription products were coming to an end like I needed to make an appointment and I needed to update them so it expired and I wasn't able to get more before I went on this trip I ended up being without my prescription products for about two maybe a little over two weeks maybe like three weeks that seems like okay it's not that long bro it's been months since then I went to New York in July and it is now almost most October and my skin is still readjusting to those prescription products so consistency is definitely key this is kind of like five and six rolled in one so five is not to do the most six is consistency is key you have to trust the process and know that like using a ton of product is not going to speed it up you have to be patient and you have to be consistent so if you're using something and your dermatologist says listen it might take six months to a year to r
