How to Blend Eyeshadow for Beginners | Eyeshadow Blending Techniques
for today's Monday makeup lesson we are talking about blending your eyeshadow now in chapter 7even of my book we talk about different eye makeup looks and we've done prominent hooded wide and closed set eyes already on this channel but today I'm want to focus on your blending technique which will actually make all of this so much easier so you want to start by picking out the right blending brush and I've recommended some of my favorite ones in the description box depending on your eye shape whether you have a lot of space or a small amount of space whether you need it to be more tapered or rounder once you've chosen the right brush for you and for me it's the e26 it's my favorite one it's all about how you hold the brush so you want to hold it similar to how you would hold a pen or a paint brush and then it actually depends on how far you're holding it on the handle of the brush this will allow you to use it in slightly different ways but you're still using the same amount of pressure every time for instance when you're applying eyes Shadow with your blending brush you want to hold it a little bit further up so right by this silver Mark here place your fingers right in the edge and this will apply a little bit extra pressure so it's great for packing on the eyeshadows but still allowing a little bit of Freer movement now if you're building up a look and you slowly want to apply a little bit of Shadow at a time hold it a little bit further down on the handle this will allow for Less pressure and a little bit Freer movement and then once again moving down further this will really free up the movement but every time you're using the same amount of pressure you're holding it in exactly the same way you're just holding it further down the handle depending on what you're doing when deciding on how far to blend off eyeshadow which is something you guys ask me a lot about it depends on how much space you have and the look that you're trying to create typically the further you blend up the more dramatic it looks however if you've got a lot of space or a small amount of space this can dramatically change so just adjust it depending on how much space you have and how dramatic you want the look to be the most important thing when you are blending is that you use a lighter shade to blend it outwards even if you're doing like a black smokey eye you have to give it something to fade with the reason we call it smokey eye is because smoke kind of disappears it kind of evaporates into nothing so you can't see where the smoke starts and ends really and that's the same thing that we want for our eyeshadow we want to be able to blend it all the way upwards until it fades into nothing and that's why it's really important that those lighter Shades and the darker shades are always blending out into nothing all the way up to the brow bone you have to have your midtone higher than your Contour remember just to keep blending because it's kind of impossible to over blend if you find that your eyes Shadows are going a little bit muddy or fading pretty much into nothing and disappearing it's probably the quality of the eyeshadows themselves or it could be that you need to apply a cream base or primer to begin with to give the shadow something to hold on to especially if they're a little bit kind of a powdery finish tneed to have a moisturizing lid so if you've got dry skin and you feel like everything goes a little bit muddy on your eyes you're going to have to use a primer or a cream base to give it something to hold on to and also remember to keep building the looks up don't feel like you have to just do it 1 two three blend finish use your entire palettes don't just use a couple of Shades build them up add a little bit of here a little bit there and always remember just to keep practicing because you will get it in the end and if you have any more questions then feel free to ask them here Instagram Twitter snap Snapchat anything at all definitely let me know if you have any more and I will see you guys in a video really soon bye guys
