How to Blend Eyeshadow Perfectly | Makeup Techniques for Flawless Eyes
guys welcome back to my channel if you are new my name is Alexandra and Nellie you can call me Alex because we're like that tight so we're gonna get right into it so there is a lot of information I'm going to be showing you how I blend my eyeshadow perfectly I get so many questions about how I blend a lot of compliments on my blending abilities it's taken a lot of practice thank you very much and I thought today I would share with you my tips and tricks I have made I think a couple videos similar to this one and I'll link them somewhere if you want to check those ones out I might be repeating myself a little bit but a lot of you guys were asking for an updated video so here it is I got my notes the first thing that I want to talk about is your base this is super important just like you would be doing your foundation you want to make sure that your base is properly primed and ready for eyeshadow if you are going into naked skin with eyeshadow it's not gonna be good okay it's not gonna happen it's not gonna work so I want to talk about three things I want to talk about primer powder and concealer so when it comes to priming your eyes for eyeshadow you want to make sure that you are creating a blendable base something that is going to hold the pigment of the eyeshadow but it's not going to skip or get stuck so there are a couple of eyeshadow primers that I want to recommend to you the first one being the one that I have been using on the regular this is the Anastasia eye primer by Anasazi of Beverly Hills it is I believe thave the one color it's just like a really pale nude shade and the reason I guess there was some controversy around this because it only came in the one color but what I like about it is because it's so light and it's obviously you know like more reasonable for my skin tone because I'm very fair is it really allows the pigment of the eyeshadow to come through the lighter color that you use is your base the more the color will show up on top of it if you're using something that's like around your skintone if especially if you are like medium to deep skin vibrant colors are gonna have a really hard time picking up so you wanna use a lighter base for that kind of thing so that's why I like the color but it is so incredibly velvety it sets really nicely and it has enough like grip where it holds onto shadows if you're applying a foil or a like a shimmer or something like that but it also if you shared out well it makes blending maths very easy so I do recommend that one my next recommendation is the elf primer this isn't the shade sheer I think thave multiple shades Cameron Bure exactly what it's called all the [ __ ] will be linked down below but this is a really really good affordable primer it's a little bit more a little more pink actually but it's basically just like well this one is a nude and kind of the same thing it's a little thinner I would say and more transparent but it is a really nice similar idea so it does have like a nice grip and it's definitely like blends out to be very Belle vide so eyeshadow goes over it very nicely but it's not going to this is it blend it out it's not as it's like a cancel out as much of the pigment on your eyes you can use concealer this is something that I did for a very long time I would go in with a tiny bit of concealer on my eyelids Pat it out and the trick is to use a concealer that isn't going to be thick you do not want to use something like it cosmetics bye bye under I don't do that wait because I'm gonna school yeah you do not want to do that it's so thick very like moist kind of it's got a lot of oil in it at least that's what it feels like so it's not going to blend i shadow very well concealers that you would want to consider are something like Tarte shape tape something that is matte that has a matte finish so keep that in mind if you are using a concealer then I would go in with the tiniest amount Pat it out so that you are you know minimizing the amount of veins and color that's coming through underneath your skin and then set very lightly with a powder powder is something that you should use sparingly in my opinion but it is going to allow you if you are having a difficult time blending you can add powder with your primer now it's not necessary in my opinion to set your primer but if you are having hard time blending say around this area setting with a powder is going to be helpful I'm just gonna get started with my [ __ ] because this is gonna be such a long video so I'm gonna be taking a little bit of my anasazi a primer and I don't know how to show this to you take like that much which is probably way too much I always put way too much on and I'm gonna Pat it all over my lids I'm starting with my lid and then I'm gonna Pat out so you can see it's so much lighter I mean so much lighter it's a it's lighter than the rest of me and then for like difficult areas you can use a brush if you need hard-to-reach spots but I just want to make sure that I'm padding this into the skin nice and evenly I don't want to take it out too too far so you can see how much this cancels out like the color of my actual eyelid you don't see any veins or anything so I like to make sure that it is very very sheer especially in the crease because you know we can get creasing now what I like to do is kind of leave whatever's on the lid the way it is and then right before I go in with eye shadow I will make sure to Pat in the crease and outward because I want that to be the thinnest because I want that to set the most so that my matte shades are blending nicely over that if you leave a tiny bit more of the product there's gonna be like a little bit more moisture I'm gonna have a little bit more grip a little more stick so it's gonna hold on to foiled and shimmer shimmer shadows much better now like I said setting this with a powder is not necessary however if you're having a hard time blending this area especially when you're like if you're blending your eyeshadow into the rest of your foundation not that you're blending it into the foundation but you want to make sure that you're not going from like a matte lid to all of a sudden like dewy skin because the eyeshadow is going to skip and it's gonna look like very weird it's gonna be really difficult to make everything look seamless you are having that problem I would suggest going in with a translucent powder round around this area now I am going to do that today I don't do it all the time most the time I don't do it but I'm gonna do it today there are so many translucent powders that I like I like the Kylie cosmetics translucent powder I use that a lot the recent one that I've been using is the new one by Gigi gorgeous I think this is from like her own brand I don't actually know I just received this in PR with like no explanation but it's pretty nice I like it a lot so I'm just gonna pick that up on a fluffy brush I'm gonna set like this area just there
