Dude The Right Lighting Changes Your Whole Face Wut
um do i like the monitor there i'm still experimenting so bear with me uh so i thought that i would come on here and talk about lighting because this is gonna jump into like a whole other thing that i'm probably gonna make a video on but i think it's really important to understand lighting because it really affects the way your face looks obviously so i just wanted to share some tips and tricks with you so that maybe you can understand lighting a little bit better this is going to be like very very basic we're not going to go into like anything crazy i am by no means a lighting expert but i understand my good features my good side all those things and there are some little aspects to it that people might not understand that i just wanted to share whatever once again i have changed my setup a little bit lighting that's kind of what inspired this video so if you have any constructive criticism please let me know anyway let's get into it so my lighting setup right now i have a large ring light i think it's 24 inches pretty sure two feet and then i have two panel lights right here that are about like this big each they're pretty small one of the things that i try to achieve when i'm lighting myself is i want to make sure that i'm lighting enough of the sides of my nose so that my nose doesn't look gigantic and i'm going to show you what i mean so if i turn off this panel light okay so i turned off one of my panel lights so my ring light is still on and my left side panel light is still on you can see how dark it makes this area of my nose sorry i'm looking at my monitor so you can see how it pronounces this area it just looks very very dark this side of my face looks nice it looks like much more well lit now if i'm going to choose to heavily light myself on one side this is what i'm going to choose because my nose is crooked it goes which way does it go it goes this this way like this so it sticks out a little bit more on this side and i prefer this little swoop so when i do like three quarter shots of myself this is the side that i choose i choose my left side because i i just find it to be more attractive if i turn my face like this you can see that my nose goes out more like that especially um this lighting is going to make it look more pronounced if i'm going from this side but if i'm heavily lighting myself from this side this looks nice and smooth and it makes my nose look like a little bit smaller let's do the opposite bro can you turn on so in this lighting you can see because this area is darker it kind of like pronounces this a lot more like it makes my nose look in my opinion it makes my nose look larger it might seem like it's the same to you but lighting this side more makes this part of my um of my nose look like it's more flat with my under eye which is something that i talk about when i talk about concealing your under eyes contouring your nose i actually just did a video an updated video on how i contour my nose and i talk about that trick lightening the sides of your nose to make it look smaller this is not something that i would want to do if i'm have like heavily letting myself from this side not cool unless i am turned more this way because i like my nose um when it is in this direction but you can see because it's not lighting this area it's bringing more attention to just this whole area of my nose now i want to show you what these panel lights which are literally like this direction this direction they're like pretty much lighting like the sides of my face if i could do i don't know what degree that is because i filled two math classes um i'm gonna turn off my ring right now so now i'm very heavily lit from my direct sides but there's nothing like the rest of my face is not is not lit so the sides of my nose are heavily lit and you can kind of see that it just sort of gets lost in my face uh this is not super it's actually kind of nice for like a three quarter that's pretty i like that now the way that i have my ring light situation situated is pointing down slightly and just up above a little bit like my camera isn't in the center of it maybe i'll insert like a just a little video of these three lights you can see how they're situated because in my opinion for my under eye situation if you don't know i did have under eye filler and i got it dissolved so my under eyes are a little bit hollow if i turn like this and squint you can see that there's like an indent basically in here so if i'm being lit from directly above it casts like this part of my eye is going to cast an even darker shadow on the under part of my eye which is going to make my dark circles look even darker right if i'm being lit from below well that's just like not flattering on anybody because it just like highlights your whole [ __ ] under chin and it's like not cute so what i like is slightly above me just ever so slightly above me which is going to help lighten this area so if you happen to have like sunken under eyes if you have like more darkness under there lighting yourself ever so slightly from above is going to be the most flattering it's going to put more light in that area and it's going to make you look a little less dead and then sorry i just ordered everything bagel seasoning and um it's nine stops away and then if you have a nose that is crooked and it turns more to one side then you're going to want to more heavily light that area obviously like lighting your best side which like i personally think is the side because you can see even with this lighting my nose looks smaller from that direction now my panel lights i have them at the both they're both at 100 brightness but i have the one on the left ever so slightly closer to me and the one on the right ever so slightly pushed away so i don't want my lighting to be like completely uneven obviously because i want i'm not going for mood lighting here i'm trying to show you guys things in my videos but i just kind of like played with them a little bit to be like does this look this looks a little bit nicer when it's like a little bit closer to my good side makes my nose look a little bit smaller whatever anyway that's it i don't know if that's helpful i just really wanted to do a video on that you can also like uh experiment with doing a little bit of lighting from below which like i don't really do because i don't have i'm not trying to bring attention down here like i would prefer to have a shadow there which is also why i like a lit slightly from above bounce bounce bounce like if i take this paper towel and put it did you just see that take this paper towel and i put it underneath my chin see how it lights kind of makes it look like a little bit more round i don't know what do you guys think i definitely prefer to have like a natural contour with the shadow there yeah let's experiment with the paper towel oh that's not bad hmm anyway um yeah that's basically it i love those golden hour i don't know golden hour r
