brings me to your EP Boy tell me all about it okay by the way this is my new product and you're the first to to touch it this is my brand nimia we've got stop toner time please unso us and we've got the does it all cream and this is a cream like a moisturizer that truly does it all so like okay it's for everyone I need that I've been on first to like my enjoy it okay where were we your EP uh I wrote it for the last couple years you wrote it yourself I did oh and I wrote it there's like a lot in similar to this where it's like on planes and tour buses and hotels so it's kind of like got this um a bit of a lonely feel to it okay and an ache for going home you were in your feelings yeah in my feelings and yeah I'm excited about it I've been planed out on the road at the moment you never know if people are going to like it how's the response been it's been really good of course thank God otherwise it'd be you know more EPS about feelings yeah exactly why does no one like my songs is it better if I close I feel like I'm going to be making this space the whole time this is good cuz we got a little curtain so I'm going to ignore this and you got a beard so I'm like this is my frame of work today and I love that oh yeah I should have shaved I'm sorry no no that saves me time okay yes okay good but your ep's got seven numbers on it mm why don't you just make an album then isn't an EP like five well yeah that's a good question as if I'm the critic here well it started as an EP and then I kept writing songs and I couldn't it's sort of like uh picking favorite children and you have to like I kept writing more songs and then it got too long but I'd already committed to it being an EP it can't kill anymore yeah here we are with a long EP or a short album short album exactly yeah so tell me about some of the favorites on this ep the first single shakes seems to be one that is a good one has been going down really well live uhhuh um my favorite is a song called Garden life Garden life yeah it's uh I wrote it in I can't remember where some City around the world plane yeah somewh something like that when you're writing songs is basically like the most it's very frustrating where you're trying to you're chasing like trying to find something that you really love trying to catch some magic exactly that's better trying to catch some magic and usually it's pretty Elusive and you can't I don't know it's just sort of comes to you when it comes to you and this was one that just sort of happened all at once it was very nice cuz it's usually like banging your head against the wall rest of the time see what is that like to like well first of all what is it like to grow up and be able to sing that's question number one cuz I would never be able to know how that works but also how does it like feel to be like in a boy band with 5 Seconds of Summer and like have that life cuz like I can't imagine what that life is like it was definitely I wish I had you doing my makeup on the road because I was having it was at the uh it was at an awkward time I left home when I was 15 that's young and we started touring straight away cuz you're 27 now right yes youve been in this for for I'm 20 right now I'm 20 yeah I'm 27 right now so it's been going yeah it's been going for a while and you literally grew up in the public guy then yeah so you're going through like your awkwardest phase right and just like acne and you're just like I'm trying to cover it myself and it was where glitter came from yeah exactly it was an odd way to have your teenage years for sure do you think that you missed out on things I don't know I think all like the positives outweigh the negatives but I think if you were looking at it in a pessimistic way you could say like you know I think a lot of the self growth and self-reflection happened at a later time like which is usually the case yeah at least for me so like even me doing you know wearing makeup and wanting to express myself in that way it took me a while to get to it wasn't until like the band's third album where I started experimenting more with it right cuz something I always really loved that where I grew up in you know Western Sydney it wasn't exactly a normal thing and right really yeah yeah I always felt like a little bit um like I'd be made fun of or something to have Sydney yeah it's well I was it wasn't in the in the city it was like an hour and a half way where the spiders are yeah where the spiders are yeah definitely got it what is what is Press like in Australia are tlike crazy or like like Paparazzi and well there's like tcan be pretty like aggressive and something in Australia but because there's only a few of them I kind of know them all so you can sort of like pick them out and be like guys John leave me alone yeah exactly so you're growing up in front of the public eye then you have this like press fallowing you everywhere I I mean I almost feel like you you almost feel bad for me I wouldn't want to say that but how does it feel to like balance your private life and your your Artistry life well it's taking a long time mhm I think at the moments it's in a good spot cuz you know John cuz I know John yeah like 15 to I don't know 20 something like 21 it was like not to 20 cuz you're 20 exactly yeah exactly cuz I'm still 20 I didn't really have that balance at all I understand it cuz it's not really something that you're taught like okay this is how you separate it but it's good now it's in a good spot I kind of because everything was so shared for so long and
