Changing the Tone: Foundation Tips and Techniques
Welcome to the makeup chair so in my last video we're talking about how to lighten your foundation when you applied your foundation is too dark we talked about how to lighten it but I got so many comments from people asking me how to change the tone of your foundation so I'm going to give you a few options here kind of go into a little bit of theory color theory and stuff to kind of explain how it works and all that kind of stuff and hopefully this help you out if you haven't seen the video the original video that I'm talking about check the link up here it will take you to it or you can check the down bar if you're watching this on your iPad or whatever um check the link down below check the link up here if you want to see how to lighten your foundation it's also quite similar to how to darken your foundation so hopefully that'll help you but today we're going to talk about how to change the tone in it so basically there are three tones within foundations and three tones within skin pretty much there's a warm color there's a neutral and there is a cool so the warm color in my terms is anything with a yellow tone yellow or orange tone so this is true much W1 by um L'Oreal I think this is amazing all their fun foundations are amazing talso have um a C1 which has a very strong kind of pinkish tone to it and then talso have a neutral one and neutral is the in between of these two so it's equal blends of a cool and a warm Foundation mixed together to make this beautiful neutral tone and this is my color I use this I absolutely love so let's start off for example if we have a quite a strong yellow tone on our skin and we struggle to find a yellow tone Foundation first of all I would highly recommend the W1 by oral because it is quite a strong yellow tone and I think it looks lovely but if you've applied this and it's just not yellow enough or you've applied your regular foundation and it's just not yellow enough try this this is the e.l.f booster corrector powder in yellow and look at it it's actually beautiful I I just love it but all you need is just a little touch of this over the top of your foundation to set your foundation and it sets your foundation beautifully like your skin just feels like silky soft and it looks glowy and healthy I love this so set your makeup with this it will bring in that yellow tone for you and kind of neutralize any pink tones that might be in your foundation and just make it true yellow for you or if you've applied your foundation that's just a little bit too pink and you want to neutralize it then this will also work for you similarly if you've applied your foundation and it's neutral foundation and it's just showing up to yellow in your skin then you can try a little bit powder and this is the sheer booster um by e.l. and it is kind of a pinkish tone so it's quite different to that yellowish tone I have to be careful but this is what it looks like see it's only slightly pink it's not like the pink color of my top it's just slightly tinted Pink So if you apply this over the top of your yellow or neutral Foundation it will definitely give it more of that reddish tone to your skin so it's going to match with the rest of your body if that's something that you need if your skin tone tends to change a lot then I would suggest having a pink tone and a yellow tone so you can mix them up and mix and match your skin to make sure you always get the right blend for you I have all three of these for different occasions different times when my skin is acting differently cuz it's very annoying at the moment I'm just sticking to the neutral but as we get into the summer I'm probably going to change to like the W which is like the warm yellow tone in it because I usually wear a yellow tone tan now in the winter time I'm pretty much close to that pink color but I actually mix it up with a neutral so as you can see it's all about mixing and matching and trying adapt it and definitely try out different powders because different powders work in different ways so hopefully this video helped you out I do have a whole list of videos I'm going to put them all down here you can also check the down bar cuz I have a ton of lessons talking about the different tones the different shades how to pick them how to choose the right tone and shade from a stripe test and all that kind of stuff also if there's something that you like to do to change the tone then just leave a comment because I love hearing everybody else's tips and tricks in the last video it was awesome so please leave any tips and tricks that you have bye-bye
