But Like..what Is The Difference Between Bronzer & Contour?
okay what is bronzer what is contour here's the thing tcan be used interchangeably depending on what product you're using so you can use a bronzer as a contour but it's going to depend on the color of the bronzer the color of your skin your undertone the undertone of the bronzer there's a lot i just kind of figured that we would stick with um actually you know what i'm gonna try these products just because i haven't tried them kendall and kylie kylie cosmetics i don't know do you guys use them so she launched some contour sticks and i want to try these out so i don't know if these are like oh i'm sorry this is a bronzer stick so this is in the shade bronze light so this is what i'm going to be using to bronze and then to show you the contour this is the bronzer stick what confusing in the shade act natural which is much more cool toned um it is a little bit closer to like an amber by fenty you can clearly see the difference in the colors bronze light is much warmer it looks like maybe um focus if you can see a little more orangey there's more yellow tone in it whereas act natural is very cool toned kind of purpley a little bit more gray so if we're talking about the difference between a bronzer and a contour bronzer like i talked about in my last video or one of my last videos is meant to warm up the face it's meant to bring a little bit of like a warm glow to the face it's supposed to kind of act as if you've been out in the sun and um add like a little bit of structure to the face but mostly warmth you know a little bit more um dimension to the skin tone the reason that we do that is because when you apply foundation you are applying one solid shade to your face obviously a person's face your skin tone is not one color it's also transparent you have colors underneath you have veins you have blood you've got all this [ __ ] going on underneath there so when you put down one color on your face it totally flattens everything so we use things like bronzer and contour to kind of bring back the dimension whether it's warmth like a little bit of a bronze color or in the co the case of contour it is meant to make ch changes or intensify or minimize your face structurally so if we're looking at me right now we have to think about how the shadows on our face are cast now as someone who has an olive undertone it's very difficult for me to find a contour shade that really really works for me that's a whole other [ __ ] story okay today we're just going to be focused on the difference between like what we're using those two things for basically rule of thumb is going to be your contour shade is acting as a shadow and so it's going to be cooler toned it's not going to stand out as much you want it to be pushed back a little bit more and your bronzer shade is going to be a warmer tone all of that is going to depend on your actual skin tone if you are someone who is very warm toned and maybe like more medium like for example desi perkins has a very medium tan skin and she's very warm she uses like a straight up bronzer to contour like she uses it to contour her nose to contour like everything on her face and it works beautifully if i did that i would look insane like if i used my bronzer to contour my jawline people would be like why is your chin so orange i don't understand now i'm going to actually demonstrate so i'm going to be using these products but i would like to just mostly because i want to try the formulas but i would like to just say this is very very purpley and doesn't exactly work for my skin tone we are going to give it a shot so that you can see maybe you can decide whether or not it will work for you but typically for all of the skin i do not like using such a purpley shade because it really doesn't look like my shadow like there's so much more um green in my natural shadows and that's just like crazy but anyway so first i'm going to show you the bronzer side so what i'm going to do is use my morphe m405 brush and i'm going to pick up my bronzer and if you saw my um how bronzer changes your face video then wait which side do i want to do this on because i'll do it on this side then you know that i like to bronze this area of my face so i like to start off with my temples and then kind of bring it up into my hairline and then kind of bring it down onto my forehead because it adds a nice warmth it also creates a little bit more of dimension and because i'm placing a darker shade in this area it's kind of bringing my forehead down so you can kind of see how like this area looks a lot larger than this area because i'm using a deeper shade to kind of shorten my gigantic forehead then for my jawline once again like in my video i like to kind of carve out a little bit of the cheekbone which is something that you do do with contour so i'm going to carve out my cheekbone a little bit i am using a warm shade and then i'm going to slowly bring it up onto the cheek this is actually a really nice color just so everybody else and this is going to help shape but also bronze the face so we're bringing a lot more warmth back into the face right now now for me personally these are the only two places that i like to use a bronzer my bronze shade because warmth is going to look more natural in those areas now for a contour i would never use a contour up here even though i do have a pretty large forehead i think it ends up looking very unnatural to put like such a cool tone shade up on your forehead because for the most part it's going to be exposed to the sun so it's not going to be super cool toned so you kind of want to think of contour as like since it is acting as a shadow it's going to be on the under part of your face you know so like jawline underneath the cheekbone underneath the nose maybe underneath the bottom lip and that dark color is going to be pushing that area back in space so it's going to help whatever you want to stand out like whatever light is next to it that is going to come forward in space now i'm going to be using uh this little synthetic brush by wet and wild this is the p77 brush it's from like some weird collection i don't know uh and then i'm gonna go in with act natural which is this like very cool toned shade going to pick it up like this so once again i won't be using this like on this part of my face but i do sometimes use a contour to carve out my cheekbone now rather than placing it here and then bringing it up i want to focus it just in this natural area so if i turn my face like this you can see like where that shadow is so i'm going to focus it here this is so funny i actually haven't used a contour in a really long time basically what i'm going to do is just intensify that shadow that natural shadow okay so i place down some product i'm going to wipe off my brush because i put down you know enough i don't want to put too much down and i'm going to slowly just diffuse that without losing the line so when i turn my face like this you can see a
