I Tried All These So You Didn’t Have To
how are you supposed to wear a tinted sunscreen and not have it get all over everything like you're never wearing white again you know I'm angry and I need tea okay listen I've tried all the sunscreens like I feel like there isn't a sunscreen that I haven't tried I have a basket where I put all of the sunscreens that I've tried in because when I try something I don't just get rid of it if it doesn't work for me I use it for something else which sounds weird but I'll explain by the way my name is Alex if you're new I do beauty stuff um today we're talking about sunscreen this isn't even all of them this isn't even close it's probably half half as a makeup influencer as a makeup person I'm always trying to find a sunscreen that I can wear every day that's gonna work on my skin type for my skin tone underneath makeup foreign I think I've reached the conclusion that it doesn't exist over all these years I have been testing out sunscreens trying to find the perfect one and I have so many of them that I want to just go over so that you don't have to try them hopefully maybe if tdon't work for me the reasons tdon't work for me will work for you that's my hope with this video I'm gonna go into depth uh with the ones that made a major impact and I'm going to kind of like speed through some of the other ones and go over reasons why tdidn't work so number one one of the ogist that I want to start with is Elta MD UV clear this was one of the first sunscreens that was recommended to me by you guys so many recommendations back when my skin was oily this is a relatively modifying sunscreen it's SPF 46 it's a hybrid sunscreen which means that it contains both physical and UV weight physical and chemical UV filters it's zinc oxide nine percent and octanoxate 7.5 percent this is great for acne prone Skin So This is actually quite nice it's a nice sunscreen ltmd has really great skincare it's pretty trusted I would say like among dermatologists I kind of feel like every dermatologist I've ever seen talk about this tried and true it has kind of like a nice almond descent to it I never remember what that dessert is that is almond but it smells like almond a little bit um and I'll find it to be overpowering uh you know sunscreen sense can be pretty gross when I started using this I felt immediately fell in love with it because it doesn't feel like sunscreen doesn't smell like sunscreen uh it worked really nicely on my skin it seemed to work pretty well underneath makeup for me for a really long time then my skin changed I went to a dermatologist I got on tretinoin I got on benzoyl peroxide and my skin became extremely dry and I could no longer use this it was too mattifying for my skin so I still have it I actually do still use it occasionally but it doesn't necessarily it isn't like necessarily my perfect sunscreen it also does have the slightest white cast if you're using enough product which is another thing we should talk about people talk about sunscreens that have no white cast Sheer Mineral zinc or whatever typically has at least a little bit of a white cast now me I'm very very light I'm pale okay I would say I'm pale I would say I'm somewhere in between the pale and the light spectrum maybe a little bit closer to pale I still see a bit of a white Hue on my skin when I apply this however if you are an oily person if you are acne prone this is a really great sunscreen so it's not one that I would not recommend in other words kind of a tried and true I'll probably always have it around my boyfriend uses it now mostly just going to give you a quick application Swatch not too bad looks kind it looks kind of oily when you first put it on but it mattifies pretty quickly so don't let that discourage you if you do pick it up and you immediately put it on and you're like oh my God trust me it'll uh it calms down it has a nice feel it's a good one okay next up Dermatology Dermatology SPF 45 this is another hybrid sunscreen uh this is 12 zinc oxide and 7.5 octanoxate this was another one that I felt kind of similarly about in terms of feel it's a little bit more hydrating it leaves a little bit more of a dewy look on my skin than the L to MD it is Sheer Mineral so again when I use this I see basically like the same amount um maybe a little bit less of a white cast on my skin it's broad spectrum SPF 45. it has kind of like a waxy smell it doesn't really like smell like anything in particular um not like sunscreen but you know not delicious I would say the smell doesn't bother me at all uh I would say that this is like a pretty good sunscreen for like normal skin normal to oily skin probably um and it's a hybrid sunscreen so you have a little bit of that mineral but uh it also has a little bit of chemical so one of the reasons that I started messing around with hybrid sunscreens is because chemical sunscreens because a lot of you might be like use the chemicals on screen perfect underneath makeup guess what tsting the ever-loving [ __ ] out of my eyes no matter what I do uh which brings me to my next sunscreen Paula's Choice youth extending daily hydrating fluid this is SPF 50 which is like so ideal that is really what I want to be able to use on a daily basis uh it's a water light fluid that minimizes the appearance of porous I think that all of them contain niacinamide at this point this one might be because Ziva that is very distracting probably because it has um glycerin silica and methicone um in it so it's supposed to be like a little bit more blurring uh this is a great formula I wish that I could use it on my face but I can't I had this super smart idea I was like I'll use a chemical sunscreen on every area of my face but then I'll use a mineral sunscreen around my eyes that seems reasonable right so I picked up the super goop bright eye whatever this is called 100 mineral eye cream this is not worth it in my opinion uh and we'll get to why basically what happened was I put this on the Outer Perimeter of my face I used this just around my eyes so basically like up to my eyebrows and around like the hollow of my eye my whole eye Contour uh within a few hours um I don't know what happened this started to move towards my eyes somehow I don't I don't know what happened I didn't touch my eyes and my eyes started stinging like crazy I was like 40 minutes away from home I had to drive home it was horrible it was a bad situation so I will no longer trust chemical sunscreen closer than like this I will not put it on my face if chemical sunscreens work for you uh that meaning abubenzone um octanoxate octa-salate and octocrylon if those ingredients do not bother you this is a fantastic sunscreen I love it it's a chemical sunscreen so there is no white cast uh it's nice and hydrating without being like super oily that's one of the benefits to chemical sunscreens there's like no trace it works for all skin tones because it doesn't leave any like cast on your skin at all it does l
