Do Your Eyeshadow for Your Eye Shape | Eye Shape Eyeshadow Techniques
i'm here today to do my eye shadow and tell you that you should be doing your eye shadow for your eye shape so i think there are just so many like trends that pop up when it comes to eye shadow like remember when cut creases were like huge uh or like halo eyes or just really really smoky eyes in general um and now we're kind of going through this like really lifted look you know which like don't get me wrong i absolutely love but i think that there are a lot of people who feel pressured to do certain eye shadow looks or certain makeup looks in general that just don't really work with their eye or face shape or skin type or whatever it might be i just wanted to remind everybody that our faces are all very very different and things that look really good this is like a hair thing too um you know i get complimented a lot on my pixie and a lot of people say like oh like i wish that i could wear short hair like that but from my perspective i love long hair like if i had really good hair and i looked good with long hair i would have long hair but a pixie is just what suits my hair and my face shape the best you know what i mean so a pixie isn't going to look exactly the same on everyone just like long hair isn't going to look exactly the same on everyone just like a halo eye isn't going to look exactly the same on everyone so we kind of have to like remind ourselves to work within the parameters that our eye shape or just like our anatomy in general has given us so basically i just wanted to remind everybody to do what you think looks best on you you can try trends whatever tmight be but you might not be able to do them exactly the way that everyone else is doing them some eyes that i really want to bring attention to are some eyes but like genuinely are sydney sweeney's eyes she has these beautiful like 60s droopy lid like sleepy lid it's so beautiful and i absolutely love it and it's very unique and i actually know um some of you might actually follow her melissa hernandez on instagram i'll tag her stuff down below but she does sydney's makeup a lot of the time and she just really like leans into that like really accentuates that's beautiful sleepy lid that makes in my opinion sydney's eyes pop so much like it's very unique to her this is actually also something that i really love about people who have done emma chamberlain's makeup in the past uh she has kind of the same thing this like sleepy eyelid that just sort of like uh it's almost like that marilyn monroe like um not marilyn's eye shape but that's just that sleepy like lash like a heavy lash kind of effect and i think it's something that's like so attractive like i just absolutely love it and it makes me think a lot about like 60s makeup because 60s makeup couldn't be more you know opposite uh of what we have going on right now so i just want to talk a little bit about eye shapes and basically the fact that we need to be slightly realistic or not even realistic but understanding our anatomy a little bit better is going to help us not feel like left out when those kinds of trends are going on so a typical one is like kristen stewart or um i use her so often as an example but uh jenna lawrence um thave like more hooded eyes tdon't have as much like real estate that i have uh like from their lash line to their brow tdon't have like all of this room to work with so something that you see their makeup artists do a lot when twant to do like a very dramatic look on them is pulling their eye shadow out here because thave much more room to work with over here than up here which is something that is an option for people who don't either have hooded lids or have like not just not a whole lot of room between their lash line and their brow one of the things to consider if you have eyelids like sydney um or emma chamberlain if you have these kind of like sleepy eyelids that like go downward is if you try to do this like fox eye lift or something like that you can do certain techniques like that to an extent but sometimes it ends up sort of like but sometimes when you think you're correcting certain things like you're trying to like create a little bit more of a lift or whatever you're trying to say um angle your eyes up a little bit more sometimes it can end up looking like very unnatural because it goes against just like the natural lines of your eyes so that is something that you should keep in mind if you feel like you haven't been able to pull that kind of thing off and in that case i would suggest leaning into your natural eye shape and i know that that kind of thing can be sort of difficult because i don't know there's a lot of like pressures when there are people around you who are just like they're all wearing the same look or you see a trend that you're just like i want to wear that like i want that to look good on me so badly um but maybe it just doesn't or maybe you know another look really really complements your eye shape or your face shape even better and i think something to keep in mind is just to not feel pressured to do those things if tdon't actually if you don't actually like them you know i think you should try them because i think trends can be like super duper fun and sometimes trying a new technique really puts you like in a different place and it takes you out of your comfort zone and it makes you not necessarily like want to adopt that technique but maybe you learn something when you're doing it um and it just kind of like keeps things like more fresh you know because otherwise you can kind of like reach a rut with your makeup and i think it's always good to be like trying different techniques and sort of like adjusting and adapting things so i think like just a really good rule to keep in mind is if you are you know a little confused about how to do your eyeshadow or maybe you feel like you're watching people like beauty gurus or something and you're like trying to do the techniques that they're doing and you're just like very confused you're like i don't understand why this isn't looking the same on me um something to keep in mind is like where your actual crease is so you can kind of like push in around your eyeball and that's where like the natural crease of your eye is and that is pretty much the area where you want to add like contour so your darker shade around that area to kind of like push that area back and create like a little bit more definition to the eye so whether that's like up high or it's lower down or maybe you have hooded lids you don't really feel it so you have to kind of like press your brush like around your eyeball to figure out like where that line should be it's not necessarily going to look exactly the same on you as it is on the beauty guru that you're following or whatever and i've definitely talked about this before but you can do little things here and there to kind of like cheat it you know but you don't want to go like so do thing
